It explains what you need to do with the, ,, and buttons (sword) but overall it's a short viewing. The Tutorial, though, isn't very in depth. As such it wouldn't be a bad idea to select the "Tutorial" feature before trying Dragon's Lair for the first time. Step 1: Watch the Tutorial and Game (For players who are new to Dragon's Lair)įor many players this will be the first time experiencing the game and therefore the learning curve may be a little steep. The good thing though is that the actual start-to-finish times are really short and shouldn't take you that long at all to complete. I've notated this in the Overview however if the information changes or needs to be updated, I'll adjust that accordingly. ![]() As such it seems that a playthrough is needed for each trophy. Note: So far, my own experiences have revealed to me that Dragon's Lair trophies are not retroactive and do not stack. But in any event, whether you're new to Dragon's Lair or a seasoned veteran to this classic, this beautifully animated game will undoubtedly provide a unique experience that you'll want to enjoy again and again. Trial and error is also something you should expect as you learn and memorize all of Dirk's movements. Conversely, there are a few scenes where you aren't given a noticeable direction to go but must input the correct action(s)s in order to succeed.ĭragon's Lair will most likely require lots of practice and repetition. These can help your sense of direction in scenes where the obvious solution might not be so obvious. Moreover, the pathways and directions in which you're recommended to take are often times briefly lit up by a flash of light (sometimes yellow, blue or purple, etc). One false move in the wrong direction could easily kill Dirk just the same so take your time and try to memorize the movement requirements for Dirk in each individual areas and you'll master the game in no time. Granted, everything in the game is based on being accurate with your timing. You'll know the difference between the two sounds very early on. Actions input at the wrong time or simply incorrect for the requirements of the scene give off a distinct low-pitched 'thump' sound. And to help the player know whether or not he/she got the timing correct, Dragon's Lair has a well known famous "beep" sound which lets you know the move was successful. In a manner of speaking though, you don't actually control the main hero of this tale but rather you press the correct buttons at the precise moments according to what action(s) are needed in any given scene, and in return Dirk performs the pre-rendered/animated action in the scene. The controls are very simplistic in nature and executed via, ,, (Dirk's directional movements) and presses (Dirk's sword attack). However, Dragon's Lair isn't quite your ordinary game that makes full use of the Dualshock controller. The gameplay/storyline is told via beautifully hand animated storyboarded sequences in which you control Dirk the Daring on his adventures to rescue the captive Princess Daphne from the hideous Dragon. ![]() Dragon's Lair has been remastered in High Definition for PSN and the game simply looks stunning. ![]() Welcome to Dragon's Lair - a vintage classic retelling of a wildly popular animated laser disc arcade game originally created in the 1980's by renowned creator/animator Don Bluth. ![]() Minimum Number of Playthroughs needed: 8 (Trophies do not stack so multiple playthroughs for each trophy is necessary)ĭo cheat codes disable trophies?: No Cheat Codes available Estimated 100% Completion Difficulty: N/A (Click here to view this game's difficulty thread.)Īpproximate time to 100%: 10+ Hours (Variable depending on skill)
